With Donato you know what your getting, a 3rd liner about 10 goals a year won’t break the bank salary wise.
Dahlen hasn’t proven anything, and is tearing up the 2nd tier, not even the first tier of the Swedish league. At some point you would think he needs to move up to a higher tier then that. Cause when he played in the AHL his stats were similar to Donato’s NHL numbers.
Unless they turn into William Karlsson 2.0 with Seattle, the Sharks can lose one and not regret it.

I wouldn't protect Kane and see if he goes to Seattle..his spot can be taken by Burns moving back to his natural position as forward. Watching Burns play since he has come over and the reruns of the "Classic games" last year during the shutdown, you see that Burns muscle memory is still that of a forward and it takes him an extra second to recognize where he should be positioned as a D Man. In the Classic games, he was on a line with Jumbo and flourished...that way the Sharks save on cap space to sign Hertl when his contract comes up along with Ferraro..

Gambrell has been a disappointment and hasn't added the value that was expected. Losing him would be like losing Ryan Carpenter. The next 2 seasons will be a "work in progress" to see what they have in Weisblatt, Chekovich, Chmelevski, Blichfield (who is a sniper and has the higher ceiling here) along with Kniasev, Pasichnuk and Hatakka (and Meloche). Barabanov abd Balcers showed promise last year.

Doug's original plan was to sign Tavares at $13mm per year. That would still have meany losing Pavs, Donskoii and Braun plus Dillon due to cap space by the following season. You still would have had Josh Norris and Tierney and more decisions to be made. It would have been interesting to see how that would have played out but Tavares went to get his heart broken at home season after season...

Wilson seems to resemble former Wild GM Chuck Fletcher. Both held onto core players too long,,signed players for too long and too much and limited flexibility with NMC’s. If Wilson thinks he has a “very good” team that suggests that he thinks if he could get a good goalie then they could be a contender. This team couldn’t contend if they had Vasilevsky.
